Do you watch films in original? Or do you prefer dubbing?

I positively choose films in original (if it's in English ) or with subtitles (in other languages ). I like hearing intonation, original voice. When a film is dubbed, i have strong feeling, that voice doesn't match to a character

Why in cinemas often we can watch a film with sutitles only at the beggining, few weeks after the premiere?

What films do you like?

Hmm...strange, but i have similar feeling concerning cinema in general. I simply go for a movie and find it average. Why is that i cannot simply enjiy a good movie these days? Is it that there is nothing interesting on?

I've got a bit controversial theory that modern movies reflect modern society and its needs. They reveal what people really want. We've got so many slasher or snuff movies because we, somehow, want it. We watch them and they are simply shot. Mediocre films are so popular, for example 'Saw 2'. IMHO it's crap. But it's very popular in US.
But I can't say they're all bad. As I wrote above, 'Good Night and Good Luck' is superb. I really derived much pleasure from watching it

I prefer subtitles to dubbing when watching a foreign language movie. In some films (for example "Harry Potter" ), our polish dubbing is such a disaster! I just can't concentrate on the movie, because the voices are so irritating. (The one and only exeption is "Shrek" ) So if I have a choise, I always choose subtitles.

When it comes to movies in general, I recently started to appreciate independent movies (I don't know if it's a right word - I mean "kino niezależne" ). I have seen only a few until now, but I'm downloading some and I just can't wait to watch them. Since I saw these movies, typical Hollywood's productions seem very trivial to me and I started to feel like I was really wasting time when watching it, because most of them leave nothing to think about.

One of the great films that I would really recommend is a french film "Cache" (ang. "Hidden", pol. "Ukryte"). It is excellent, I think. It's realistic, not everything is obvious, some things are not explained, it has a interesting plot, and it has not only one meaning (one of them is probably a pollitic allegory). And the fact that I found really interesting is that there is no music at all.

From polish movies, I would recommend "Jestem" by Dorota Kędzierzawska. It is a really beautiful film about a boy who lived alone on a barge.

I also liked very much "Virgin suicides" and "Lost in translation", both by Sofia Coppola. They are great, I think, not like the typical american movies.

Although I'm starting to prefer independent movies to Hollywood's productions I still have a few movies that I love even knowing that they are a little trivial, for example "Gladiator" I really love it

OK, I could write and write about it, but I think I'll go to bed now (it's 2:54 in this moment. But I couldn't sleep so at least I had something to do. ).

Oh I really love watching movies in orginal. Of course in English. Sometimes, if the version of the movie is bad and I can't clearly hear what is being said I use subtitles...of course English My favourite movie is in fact a movie series: M*A*S*H. I just love the kind of humor this movie represents. But must admit that watching it without any sybtitles is really challenging.

I agree that some dubbed movies are as good as their original versions, if not better, for instance "Ice age" or "Shrek". I've seen "Ice age" in both versions - for me it's also an opportunity to widen my voc, which is really poor
I'm also fed up with Hollywood productions. Unfortunately I keep watching them! But sometimes after a few days of intellectual work I'm just jaded and I do not want to think any more. It's no excuse, I know...

I watch film only in original version. Or with subtitles if I'm in the cinema - but I never read it. I can understand film in english. I hate dubbibg, because I like listening to intonation. And usually dubbing is really bad So I think, that films in TV should be with subtitles, no with terrible dubing.

I will not pretend , subtitles make films clearer and more understandable for me.If an actor has a very strange accent I am not to able to understand everything. I like subtitles, they are a very helpful.

I personally love watching movies in their original versions, that really helps me improving my english. At the beginning, when I was starting my adventure with english such practice gave me a lot more than pure learning words by heart. I was hard, and sometimes I couldn't understand every single word, but I coud get the plot of the movie so it wasn't so bad. I also like to watch movies with original subtitles, as I can remember that way the transcription of the words. My favourite movie in orginal is Bridget Jones' Diary. I strongly recommend it!!

I love to watch films in original. Unfortunately I don't have such possibility all the time because of my LC (TŻ in Polish ). It happens because usually we watch many films together and he doesn't know English very well. But sometimes he is so kind and besides not understanding the language we watch film in original

I love to see actors' faces, but when i watch movies with subtitles i can't. I can't pay attention to music either.

I prefer watching films in original, especially in English, but also in French and in Italian. I speak French and Italian quite well so I understand quite much. As for English, I speak it fluently and I teach this language, so I like English films best. I like watching and listening to original versions although I have some problems with hearing. However, I like overcoming difficulties.

i watch movies only in english - its the best way to learn the language. same with books. i dont understand polish people who move to london, bring the cyfra+ dish and watch polish tv all the time whats the point of leaving the country then ?

Perhaps, they just want to work there, nothing's more Not everybody is eager for knowledge

This is one of the best way learing language for me.
